Refunds

Refunds, reprints, and things that go wrong

A book made from your family's recipes is not something you should have to gamble on. Here is what happens if you change your mind, if we make a mistake, or if the mail does.

The short version. A full refund any time before your book goes to press, no reason needed. After it prints, we reprint anything we got wrong, free. If a book arrives damaged or never arrives, send us a photo within 14 days and we reprint it, free. Ask by emailing [email protected] with your order number.

Before your book goes to press

Up to the moment we send your book to the printer, you can cancel for a full refund of everything you paid on the order. It does not matter how far along we are.

This is a promise we make on purpose. Nobody should feel stuck with a book they do not love because the work had started. When you cancel, we delete your uploads once the refund is through, unless you ask us to hold them for later.

After you approve the proof

Your written "approved" is what sends the book to print, and we usually send it the same day. From that moment the book is being made just for you, and it cannot be resold, so a refund for a change of mind is no longer possible. This is the one hard line in the whole policy, and it is why we ask you to read the proof carefully.

What is still covered, always:

Damaged, faulty, or never arrived

Every book ships tracked, in packaging made for books, but carriers are carriers. If something goes wrong:

If a reprint is not what you want, or a second copy goes wrong too, we refund the order in full instead. You choose.

Add-ons

Digital PDF only

A PDF order gets a proof and one round of revisions, and you can have a full refund until the final PDF is delivered. Once it is delivered, it is a file you now have, so there is no refund. If we made an error in it, we fix it free and send a corrected file.

Gift certificates

If the person you bought it for has not redeemed it, you can have a full refund within 30 days of buying it. After that, the certificate keeps its full dollar value forever, with no expiration, and it is not redeemable for cash except where the law requires it. A certificate that has been partly used keeps its remaining balance. If a certificate is lost, we re-send it free.

How to ask, and how long it takes

Email [email protected] with your order number, or just your name if you cannot find it. You do not need to give a reason. We process the refund within five business days of your message, usually the same day, to the card you paid with. It then takes your bank another five to ten business days to show it. We email you when it is done.

If this ever changes

We will update this page and change the date at the bottom. The policy that applies to your order is the one on this page on the day you placed it.
